With the cost of modern living, both parents in most families work. This means someone else is raising the children especially in their formative years. Is this what you want? What can you do about it?
Let’s face it, being a parent is tough. You are constantly making choices with very little information. There are trade offs and compromises and you are hoping all the time that you are making good decisions.
In the 1950’s and before, one income stream was usually sufficient to meet the family’s basic needs. This was usually earned by the husband while the wife took care of the house and raised the children.
Starting in the 1960’s, it became more and more necessary for two or more income streams for the family to remain comfortable in their lifestyles. The choices were for the husband to get a second job or for the wife to get a job. At this point the question had to be answered as to who would watch the children while the parents were at work.
New terms started being introduced into mainstream conversations such as daycare, latchkey kids, and quality time. More and more parents were being forced to let other people raise their children and instill their values during the child’s formative years.
With the cost of basic living constantly going up, is there a way that a family can enjoy the lifestyle they desire while staying at home with their kids?
Here’s the story about a young couple, Dan and Rebecca. Dan was on the road most of the week and Rebecca worked over 20 miles from their house. They started out using daycare providers for their children. They weren’t too happy about it but it worked for them. That is until the oldest was old enough to enter kindergarten.
The dilemma arose on how to handle half day kindergarten. The daycare provider was not able to drop off or pick up and with Dan traveling almost every weekday, it would’ve been up to Rebecca. She did not see how she could drive back to her neighborhood, pick up their son from kindergarten, drop him off at daycare and be back at her job during her 30 lunch break. Something had to change.
Around this time, Dan was introduced to a home based business opportunity. More importantly, the people who introduced him to it had developed a marketing approach so that he could work it part time, on his breaks while he was traveling and the compensation plan gave him a fair return for his efforts.
Dan worked his business part time using the system he was taught until he was earning enough to quit travelling. At that point he could work from home and take care of the transportation issue with his children. As his business grew, Rebecca was able to quit her job and stay home and raise the children.
Dan has been very diligent about working his business and is now often in the top 25 income earners for his company.
Can a home business work for you? Depending on you, it can. There are some key points to help put the chances of success on your side. The first point is to find a reliable company with good products. You should like these products to the point where you would recommend them to others like you would recommend your favorite restaurant.
Next, make sure the group you join has a simple and workable system for acquiring customers and other business partners. The average person finds 2 to 3 others who would like to have their own businesses, so make sure your system will help you do so.
Third, the compensation plan has to be fair. You need to be able to make the income you desire by finding 2 to 3 others. If you have to find 10 to 20 others, you may want to continue looking.
Last, look at what training is available. Some people are only interested in taking your money and then letting you figure it out by yourself. A good organization will have a training system that teaches you how to be productive in a very short time. They view it as they only become successful when you become successful.
Along with the training, you need to be teachable and put your training into action. The best training in the world will not help you if you don’t apply it.
If you would like to be the one who raises your children, perhaps a home based business can be the answer you are looking for.
